The National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) held by Portland’s Police Activities League is a 4-week sports camp that provides fun, structure, meals, gang resistance training and encouragement for teens in the metro area (ages 9 – 16). A nominal fee of $35 incldes breakfast and lunch and transportation from locations throughout Portland (including stops in Beaverton and east Multnomah County cities Gresham and Troutdale). Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch will pay $20 for the camp. If students are already a member of PAL, the camp is only $15. Download the registration form.
My son did this program when he was 13 and had a good time playing a variety of sports: basketball, football, baseball, swimming, tennis, bowling etc.

Families on the west side of the metro area might want to look into the weekly camps offered at PAL’s Beaverton facility. Cost of these day camps are $50 per week of $30 for students on free or reduced lunch.
